Meet the team

James
Founder and Head Behaviourist

Dogs have played a major role in my life ever since I was a child and I love the effect having well behaved and reliable dogs has on my household.

The journey to founding Beta Dogs began in 2006 when I adopted Storm. Despite having rescue dogs all my life I had never seen this level of fear in a dog. Storm’s issues were such that I had a metaphoric mountain to climb. The journey I took with Storm laid the foundations for the Beta Dogs method.

"I love the impact the Beta Dogs Method has had on so many animals and families, bringing happiness back into their lives. We can turn tough relationships around and have so much fun on the journey"

Lisa
Canine Behaviourist

Lisa has a long and varied history with animals, notably as Senior Handler at the UK Wolf Conservation Trust and long-term volunteer at Cheetah Outreach in South Africa.

Lisa has her own pack of three rescue dogs; Camden, Kensington and Brixton (Can you detect a theme?!). They were rescued in South Africa and travelled back to live near Kingsbridge in Devon with Lisa in 2019.

"I love working with all ages of dogs but particularly puppies, its great to see the relationship between dog and owner start in such a positive way"

Lorna
Canine Behaviourist

Lorna joined the team in 2023 after completing her Level 3 Diploma and Beta Dogs Method training with James.

Lorna's rescue dog, Fizz, had a tough start to life suffering from acute anxiety and dog on dog aggression. Lorna met James and they worked together to help Fizz. This inspired Lorna to pursue her new found passion for canine behaviour.

"James was the most inspiring person to work with and I am so excited about helping others using his approach that worked so well for me"
